Government Exam Checklist
From notification to joining: what to do at each stage, and where to check it. Prepared by Govtpvt, India's government and private jobs portal.
1. Before you apply
- Read the official notification PDF, not only a summary. Find new openings under latest government job notifications.
- Check the crucial date for age and qualification, and the relaxation table for your category.
- Confirm post-wise eligibility and the vacancies in your own category.
- Note four dates: opening, closing, fee payment and correction window.
2. While applying
- Apply only on the portal named in the notification.
- Type your name and date of birth exactly as on your class 10 certificate.
- Preview the form before paying, then save the final form and the payment receipt as PDF.
3. Admit card
- Download it the day it is released. Track releases under admit cards and hall tickets.
- Check name, photo, category, centre, shift and reporting time.
- Carry the original ID named on the card and two printed copies.
4. After the exam
- Download your response sheet and the provisional key from answer keys and objection notices.
- Calculate your raw score with the marking scheme, including negative marking.
- Raise objections only with a standard reference, and within the window.
5. Result
- Check the qualified list, cut-off and scorecard under Sarkari results and merit lists.
- Read the next-stage notice the same day: skill test, physical test, interview or document verification.
6. Document verification and joining
- Originals plus two sets of self-attested copies: marksheets, degree, category or EWS certificate in the required format, ID and photographs.
- A no-objection certificate if you are already employed in government.
- Keep every admit card and scorecard until you have the appointment letter.
Safety: no recruiting authority asks for money by phone, messaging app or personal bank transfer. Fees are paid only on the official portal.
